A contemporary home in Florence
In January 2024, the Condé Nast AD Italia magazine dedicated an important article to a dream apartment in the heart of Florence, where the interior designer Maria Giulia Sala blended the historical and artistic features of the city with a cosmopolitan style.
The apartment features works of contemporary art from the Studio Abba gallery in Florence, in particular paintings by David Harry, Enzo Trapani, Chiara Taddeucci Sassolini and Karl Stengel. As Maria Giulia Sala said in the interview, “we gave some more colourful notes with the paintings by David Harry, which are true flashes of colour”.
A fusion of tastes, materials and details, using local materials, such as Carrara marble, Bardiglio and other stones, to create a classic and elegant floor with inlaid patterns, as well as custom-made furniture, artworks and statues that evoke the Florentine Renaissance in a contemporary way. Together with the owners, Sala chose to integrate Italian design excellence, such as Poliform, B&B Italia, Maxalto, Ceccotti, Agape and Effeti cucine, with unique vintage pieces and paintings by Italian and American contemporary artists.
